The seas, rivers, and mountains have endowed Asturias with a fine heritage of cookery. They use a lot of natural and fresh ingredients, which are prepared in a manner of simplicity but nevertheless delightful to the palate.

Called sidra locally, it is arguably the finest in Spain, and to be found in plentiful supply throughout the regions especially during festivities.
